Making Idaho History Come Alive!

Step back in time and experience life as an Idaho pioneer with our interactive school tours! Our tours usually run in the spring and can be scheduled either from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., though we are happy to accommodate school schedules and fall tour may be arranged. Tours are designed 30-60ish students and cost $3 per child, offering an engaging and educational experience that brings Idaho history to life.

During the tour, students explore the Homestead’s historical buildings, including the schoolhouse, general store, barn, cabins, and miner’s camp. They participate in hands-on activities that teach the skills and daily routines of pioneer life, such as churning butter, washing clothes, spinning wool, sending Morse code messages, and panning for gems. Students also enjoy Pioneer games and learn about farm and homestead animals, discovering how these animals were used to sustain early families.

Our programs are tailored to Idaho history, making them ideal for fourth graders studying the state’s past, though we can adapt activities for other age groups as well. This is a fun, immersive, and educational experience your students won’t forget! To schedule a tour or for more information, please contact Lynn Cramer at 208-270-2551
